FGC is the most varied railway company in the world: it has lines with four train track gauges (600, 1,000, 1,435 and 1,668 mm), two lines with Abt rack railway, four funiculars, three cableways and five ski resorts. This book inventorizes the global network material under unified criteria, providing at the same time historical and technical descriptions of each vehicle that makes up the company's rolling stock.

Pere Macias i Arau is the author of this book which offers us his vision of the railway isolation of the Iberian Peninsula as a result of the differentiated gauge and the radial conception of the Spanish network. This is the story of 150 years of controversy between a pro-European Catalonia and an autarchic Spain, from the Mataró railway to the international agreement with France for the railway connection between Figueres and Perpignan.
